Library of the Natural History Museum of Denmark
The library of the Natural History Museum of Denmark has been formed through the merger of three previous libraries: The Botanical Main Library, The Geological Museum Library and the Zoological Museum Library. The library consists of a collection of older books and journals (before 1900) as well as the botanical, geological and zoological archives.
It is not possible to take out loans from the library, but the collections of books, journals, archived materials etc. can be accessed at the reading rooms, where it is also possible to photocopy and scan materials. Please make an appointment by phone well ahead of your visit, in case you have enquiries about specific materials.
The library contains three different sections:
The library will be part of the future new Natural History Museum of Denmark as a knowledge centre located in the former Polytechnical Institute buildings on Sølvtorvet.
The collections of newer books (after 1900) and journals beginning after 1900 has been transferred to the Faculty Library for Natural and and Health Sciences. Searches can be made online through The Royal Library database REX.
