Ib Friis
Professor Emeritus Ib Friis, who was curator of the General herbarium until his retirement in 2015 spent 45 years studying the flora and vegetation of the Horn of Africa, particularly Ethiopia, Eritrea and Somalia. During this time, Ib Friis has been on more than 30 expeditions and collected more than 17,000 samples for the museum’s herbarium, and authored more than 300 publications, and he still continues to collect for the Museum.
